Vou ouvir o que Yahvé Deus diz,
porque Ele fala de paz
ao seu povo e seus fiéis,
para que não voltem à insensatez.
Sua salvação está próxima dos que o temem,
e a Glória habitará na nossa terra.

Amor e verdade encontram-se,
Justiça e Paz abraçam-se;
da terra germinará a Verdade
e a Justiça se inclinará do céu.

O próprio Yahvé dará a felicidade,
a nossa terra dará o seu fruto.
A Justiça caminhará à sua frente,
e a Paz traçará um caminho.

For the peoples of the Middle East

Lord, we pray to you for the peoples of the Middle East.
Help them to break down the walls of hostility and division
and to build together a world of justice and solidarity.

To you we entrust the young people of these lands.
In their hearts they aspire to a brighter future;
strengthen their resolve to be men and women of peace,
and heralds of new hope to their peoples.

Make Me An Instrument of Your Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.

Ouve a nossa oração neste tempo de crise.

O teu poder transforma os corações.
Muçulmanos, Cristãos e Judeus recordam
e afirmam com convicção,
que são os seguidores do Deus único,
filhos de Abraão, irmãos e irmãs;
os que são inimigos começam a falar-se;
os que são estranhos dão as mãos na amizade;
as Nações procuram juntas o caminho da paz.

Fortalece a nossa resolução para sermos testemunhas

Brothers and sisters,
pray so that reason prevails upon the spirit of vengeance.
Pray so that men and women may know that they are capable of living together in peace.
Pray for the ceasing of military actions that impede leaders and soldiers to be human persons and make them agents of killing and demolition.
Pray so that God be more present among us and that His presence renders men more human to their brothers and sisters beyond all differences of religion and nationality.

Irmãos e irmãs,
Rezemos para que a razão seja maior que o espírito de vingança.
Rezemos para que os homens saibam que são capazes de viver juntos.
Rezemos enfim para que acabem as acções militares que impedem os chefes e os soldados de serem pessoas humanas e os transformam em assassinos e demolidores.
Rezemos para que Deus continue presente no meio dos homens e que a sua presença torne o homem mais humano em relação aos seus irmãos e irmãs, para lá de toda a discriminação religiosa ou nacional.

No espírito do encontro inter-religioso de oração pela paz convocado pelo Papa João Paulo II, cujo 20º Aniversário celebramos neste dia, convidamos todos e todas, qualquer que seja o seu credo religioso, a dedicar um momento do dia à oração pela paz entre os povos do Médio Oriente.
